WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET A TRAFFIC TICKET
This advice was sent by a retired Car Insurance agent. This system has been tried and it works in every state.
If you get a speeding ticket or went through a red light, or whatever the case may be, you're going to get points on your license and a surcharge on your auto insurance. This is a method to insure that you DO NOT get the points..
When you get your fine, send in a check to pay for it. If the fine is $79.00 make the check out for $82.00, some small amount over the fine. The system will then have to send you back a check for the difference.
However, here is the trick: DO NOT CASH THE REFUND CHECK Throw it away !
Points are not assessed to your license until all Financial Transactions are complete. If you do not cash the check, then the transactions are NOT complete. The system has received its money and is satisfied and will no longer bother you.
This information comes from an unmentionable computer company that sets up the standard databases used by every state.
Send this to everyone you know. You never know when they may need a break.
Just a little tid-bit I found in my Internet travels today.

Re: WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET A TRAFFIC TICKET
It's worth a try, right the check for few more, and see what happens... if you recieve a check back... don't cash it.

Re: WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET A TRAFFIC TICKET
In most states, the minor traffic offenses that will get you points can be reduced to offenses that don't give you points if you simply go to court and plead guilty at court.

I agree Mooant, most states with only having minor traffic offenses will allow you to slide and will make reductions if you plead guilty, depends on the State and the severity of the case and/or cases you've had.

Re: WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET A TRAFFIC TICKET
Most tickets can be reduced by talking to the district attorney.. If that doesn't work go to court and tell your side. i most cases, the charges will be reduced.
The thought of sending any government agency more money than necessary is absurd. That and from my experience most states acess the points when they get thier money anyway.

Serioulsy, I do the speed limit and obey the laws of the road diligently.
I'm sorry, but I think of all the money ang our "protect and serve" resources are spent that could be focused elsewhere, just becuause eithet people can't manage their time or just like to go fast, I think it's just riduculus that adults can't be more "law abiding" on the road.
....and speed kills.

Chazzy I completely agree with you. I do the speed limit for the safety of everyone including myself, and have never (so far, knock on wood) been arrested or received a ticket. I just found this article interesting and wanted to share it with everyone, that's all.

Have you noticed that the safer cars get the worse people drive? Seems not many even look at the speedo now. They drive 80 mph on a 2 lane until they catch the next vehicle then tailgate because they forgot how to pass. I've also noticed that many cars now can go one speed for a long time, yet when the driver answers the phone, they slow.

Oh I know hon, there are times, like when I had to drive my hubs to the hospital while he was passing some whopper kidney stones, it was the most difficult thing NOT to speed, but I knew getting stopped for a ticket wouldn't get him to the hospital any sooner.
And as with my brother recently, I do understand that at times of urgency, obeying a speed limit is so difficult to do.

Re: WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET A TRAFFIC TICKET
It's a proven fact that unless you can drive faster over a long time period [8 hours or so] that speeding does not significantly change your arrival time.

Re: WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET A TRAFFIC TICKET
i think it's great, when i'm cruising along (not speeding) and a car flys by me, and i meet them again...just as the stoplight is turning RED!!!

Oh yeah, I laugh myself! No need for rushing, you'll get to your destination, without the possible fear of an accident, and not having the 'me first sydrome' going on, plus you're saving a little more gas than they are.
