Pickles... Etc.
Do you can or jar the harvest from your garden crops annually? I miss those times pickling my cucumbers, to peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, etc.

Aren't the cucumbers, eggplant and other such things better for ya if not canned? Easier to use if nothing else.

All I grow are tomatoes, I don't even use that many, I grow them mostly for my daddy, he's tried so hard so many times to grow his own, but for some reason, where he lives the squirrels are just the orneriest tomato gluttons ever and he never gets to pick and enjoy even one of his own!

The thing is.... if only WN kept their Candid Camera tapes, then you'd see the many men/cucumber encounters I've dealt with in the veggie isle at the grocery stores.... I'm laughing so hard right now just thinking of a few of them.

The best way to grow tomatoes are upside down. You can buy the bags to do it or take a plastic bucket and cut a hole a few inches round and plant the tomato and hang it some where in the sun. Mine is on the pole beside my house where the electric is. I learned that from my uncle. I will send you a picture Chazzy. Squirrels can't get 'em that way.

Thanks goody, but daddy tried that too, I"m telling you...the squirrels where he lives are just too smart and too onery@
We've just decided to make a second tomatoe bed next year, one for us and one for him, the squirrels here aren't a problem, maybe because there's just so much birdseed for them, they just don't care to bother my tomatoes.

I use to do pickles, I did Apple pie filling, i have done apple butter, Green beans, Apple sauce, and jelly, and Relish.
Have not done any for a long time 
I would like to do some green beans they are the best, and some freezer jam.

I use to do pickled green tomatoes, ya know with those end of the season little bitty tomatoes left on the vine.

I take the green tomatoes and make 'Green Tomato Parmigiana', making it the same way as Eggplant Parmigiana, using the green tomatoes, yumm!
