Gas Prices
Now that the gasoline prices have begun to subside, what are they now where you live, and just how high did they get? Here in Western New York, theyre down to $3.93. The highest we had was $4.31.

Re: Gas Prices
I saw prices at $3.29 in Chicopee Ma yesterday about 15miles from my home in Ct.. As a matter of fact, there is a gas price war on that strip of road. Maybe $3.00 by Labor Day??

Ahhhh.....can you say manipulation? A couple of years ago just before the gas prices started to escalate, I bought a BMW 740iL. I loved that freakin' car but it required rocket fuel (93 octane) and then price shot up to something like $3.40. Because of the escalating prices with no end in sight, I traded that beautiful car for a freakin'.......wait for it......minivan!! Oh the humanity!!! I'm still pissed off at that......

Re: Gas Prices
Sorry to hear that Bill. I still drive my Hummer. But these days, I only drive about 5 or 6 hundred miles a month.

As a matter of fact, the rentals at Hertz (my part time job) of the Hummer H2's and H3's has fallen off to near zero. Up until the gas prices started escalate, the H2's and H3's were going out the gate at about 2 or 3 a day. Now, there isn't even one on the lot. They shipped them to the Boston area.
Hertz Corp has hinted that they'll cut the gas hogs from the fleet and go mostly "green" or high gas mileage rentals. I think that's a smart move on their part.

The price you're paying shouldn't have anything to do with the current crude sales price. It takes time for that oil to reach the pumps. Which is why it's not right for stations to raise the price depending on the days crude sales price.

The price went back down to $3.69 a gallon today, this one station put the price up and if the others don't they drop back down,I can't see how they can get by with that but other ones do it too, when I worked at a service station a long time ago we didn't raise or lower the price untill we got a new load of gas in,now they raise it anytime they want (the gas company)

Re: Gas Prices
With most of the bigger chain gas stations being all computerized and with digital gas price displays, there is no more reaching up with those long poles to grab the price cards to change the price and no more opening the gas pump meters and manually clicking the prices.
Now, from inside the station, the clerk can push a couple of buttons and presto, the prices are re-calibrated on the pumps and the big sign out front.
