County Fair Time
It is time for the county fairs to start in our area. Ours is from the 17th thru the 24th. It is an affordable fun way for everyone to enjoy. Rides for the kids, greased pigs contest, good music, watermelon eating contests, 3 legged races, the animals, you name it they have it. My personal favorites are the demolition derby and the tractor pull.

I have every intention of inviting him, I want to volunteer him for the dunking game..the one where you throw a ball and hit the target and down they go into the water.

Re: County Fair Time
The opening county fair parade was a bit of a controversary this year in a nearby township...from what I can tell, it just sucked...too many "floats" were no more than platforms for local political issues...that is sad, the children don't care about that crap, they wanna see marching bands, clowns, horseback riders, big bright floats and catch candy.
Now even the candy thing is controversial, many communities quit throwing the candy from the floats (I don't know why that was such a big problem, I guess complaints from parents of their kids getting hit on the head and in the face with bubblegum) so then...the children would have to run up to the floats to have candy handed to them (Now I can see where children running out to get candy from a heavy moving object on wheels is a bad idea) Geez...just get some volunteer walkers to walk along the edge of the street and hand the candy out in a safe manner!

Hey, I'd love to go!! Send my invitation.
We have a regional fair here in New England called the Big E. They have all that good sh*t such as cow chip throwing, various farm animal/human sex demonstrations, running with the cows, bull semen taste testing ect, ect!!

Re: County Fair Time
I love the celebration of this country's history being kept alive with the County fairs...such a tradition!
Turtle and frog races! Anyone else enter these when they were young? I was a turtle racer, there was not only prizes for the fastest turtles, but for the best dressed, my turtle won several times for the best dressed, as a girl, I guess I was more interested in dressing stuff up than having the fastest...poor turtle, dressed one up all frills one year, complete with frilly parasol!
The fair queen and geez the little miss and mister pageants were always funny and cute! (My momma tried to enter me once, but I was so shy I wouldn't walk out on stage, and I had a bad habit of pulling my dress over my head when I got shy....I've pretty much outgrown that by the way)

I think we can beat that, our admission is $5.00 at the gate with free parking, food is extra, and the rides. Your County Fair sounds wonderful. I have been to State Fair in WV also. It was great!

Re: County Fair Time
Our county fair starts tomorrow night. It has been voted best in the state of Tennessee for many years. There has been talk of moving the State fair here but I don't see it happening because our fair is really very family oriented. At the state fair they sell beer and unfortunately it is abused. There are usually a lot of obnoxious drunks running around.

Re: County Fair Time
They always put the fish sandwhich stand close to the beer garden, and the beer garden is always next to the bathrooms....
That's the way they do it here, they usually put the beer garden on an outer corner, away from good and innocent women and children, and for Pete's sake, they never ever put the beer garden any where near the livestock barn...
