"Yesterday" The Roy Clark song I'm thinking of is completley different from the Beatles tune, may have a slightly different name. But Roy could have covered the Beatles song too.....
Here's another "As Tears Go By" Marianne Faithfull, the Rolling Stones, and others.

Ok, Im going DEEP into the vault for this one. "Baby It's You", written by Burt Bachrach was a hit for the Shirelles, a staple for the Beatles back in their Hamburg days and went to #5 on the charts in 1969 when covered by a band named Smith.

Hello, Mary-Lou written by Gene Pitney, made famous by Ricky Nelson. the Statler Brothers also had a hit with it...but did you know that even the likes of Led Zeppelin covered it? it also appeared on the last recorded album by Creedence Clearwater Revival...

He should be harpooned for that! Just kiddin' Seriously, though... Ya' just don't touch Stevie's work!
I really don't mind other people redoing a song... I just hate when these so called "rappers" use riffs from old songs and make 'em sound like crap!
Disturbed does a version of Phil Collins' "Land Of Confusion." It's hard core, as you'd think, but it sounds pretty much like the original... lots of bass and the usual "hacking up a winner" noise from the lead singer lol I like it!

1 Shake, Rattle and Roll-Big Joe Turner/Bill Hailley
2 Twist and Shout- Isley Brothers/ Beatles
3 Memphis, Tennessee- Chuck Berry/ Johnny Rivers
4 While not strictly a cover, Berry's Maybelline was an adaptattion of a country/ bluegrass song "Ida Red" recorded by Bob Wills among others.
I might add here that a good half of everthing Chuck Berry has ever recorded has been covered by somebody, sometime.

Billy Joel covered a Gerry Goffin / Carol King song on his Greatest Hits Volume III album called "Hey Girl". Freddie Scott recorded it and took it to #10 in 1963 and Donny Osmond also covered it and took it to #9 in 1972.
On the same album, Billy also covered "To Make You Feel My Love" which was originally written and recorded by Bob Dylan.

Pearl Jam has done a lot of covers apparently. I recently heard Love, Reign O'er Me on the Adam Sandler movie Reign Over Me. It was originally done by The Who and written by Pete Townsend.
According to one listing I found, Pearl Jam has covered even Cyndi Lauper, Cat Stevens and Bob Marley & the Wailers.
