What do you think is possible?
Prehistoric and once thought of as extinct, creatures like the celecamp do turn up, and tribes of the Amazon unknown to us before are recently discovered and it's certain there are more yet to be found.
The Montauk 'monster' remains has yet, as far as I know...to be positively identified. (I'm going with the turtle without a shell guess on this one)
If it is possible for an animal species and even entire tribes of humans to live among us on this planet undetected till so recently, does any of this make you believe for a minute even, that such legends as the Loch Ness Monster, Big Foot, Chupacubra just might actually be more than just legends?
Is it possible that these creatures also, do exist...but just have escaped our detection and our search for proof positive evidence and some day that evidence could be found?

Ain't it cool? There's still some mysteries left in this world...

Re: What do you think is possible?
I'm sure some are just legends...mothman is intriguing as well as all the other creature legends...
Who else has seen the Montauk 'monster' photos and do you have a guess as to whether it's an unidentified species or something as common as a sea turtle without it's shell?

Re: What do you think is possible?
I think this is definitely possible. They've just adapted to the environment where they live. Fortunately, they haven't been rediscovered.
I'd still like a brontosaurus though.

Re: What do you think is possible?
ok, so we've all heard the discussions "is there life out there, other than Earth", right?
well what about looking deep inside the earth's core, take "Lord of the Rings" for example....there was a whole world, in the middle of the earth. or "Journey to the Center of the Earth"? is it possible that there is life beneath the earth's crust?

Could very well be. However, it's like really hot there.

Re: What do you think is possible?
Wow, LandH...very good question! Things adapt and live very deep in caves, how far down into the earth could life be found?

Ah yes, I wonder how much we will learn about the outer space during our own lifetime? It's wonderfully mysterous and romantic to think of deep space as infinite and endless...

Re: What do you think is possible?
We'll see many more species arriving... that's if we stop looking at other planets and focus on our own.
We've only explored 5% of the oceans... which in places reach 11km deep. Giant squid and deep diving whales won't dive further than 3km.
One interesting thing is that the hundreds of hydrophones placed in our oceans (for detecting enemy submarines) have recorded huge roars from the deep that have been attributed to a living thing. The sounds wavelength made it bigger than a blue whale. Other probes sent to 4,000m (if i remember rightly) have detected huge moving shapes below them.
So nessy is most likely true along with many more amazing species we've never even thought of. Yet we jump around like loonies when we're told Mars has water on it.

Anything is possible given the right circumstances and the right time, with an open mind.

Re: What do you think is possible?
Only 5 percent of the oceans? That's a freakish low number really...I know the Giant Squid has been the strong focus of many marine bioligist now...a live Giant Squid. Weren't they pretty much a legend up until fairly recently?

Re: What do you think is possible?
I remember seeing tv programs many yearts ago that showed some of the life deep in oceans. Most were small cretures due to the pressure.

Re: What do you think is possible?
I like watching those shows, the deep sea creature that glow and light up in the darkness way down there.
Now I'm wondering....how deep and where is the deepest abyss and how much of it has been explored?
(Yeah you know it...I'm googling right now)
How much can be explored at this time, I understand that the pressue beyond a certain depth may be impossible to work with (at this time?)

Re: What do you think is possible?
Okay, answering in part my own question...
The Kaiko mini-sub first touched down on the bottom of the Pacific Ocean's Mariana Trench in 1995. At 11 km, the Trench is the deepest abyss on Earth, more than 2 km deeper than Mount Everest in the Hymalayas is high.
(I'll bookmark this one, do wanna read the rest of the story of this sub.)

Re: What do you think is possible?
This article bit is from the CNN site, I'm anxious to hear if this ia another hoax, or just maybe...not?
There is a photo of this BigFoot online, but hoaxers can be so good at what they do.

Body proves Bigfoot no myth, hunters say
North Georgia men say they've found a den of Bigfoot creatures
They say they'll reveal details of one Bigfoot on Friday in California
The body of the furry half man-half ape is 7 feet, 7 inches tall, they say
Men won't reveal Bigfoot den's location because they don't want others disturbed
