Social Poaching
Social Poaching...when a person doesn't make friends or dates on their own, they hang on to someone else, and makes friends out of their friends..
The article I'm reading defines its like this...
"It's a phenomenon experts call "social poaching" -- when a friend or acquaintance mines your social network, without permission, for friends or romantic partners."
I've known some people like this, and now there is an actual term or name for it...

Re: Social Poaching
Is'nt this a matter of degree? Dont most of us make at least some of our friends through people we're already friends with? Does a person "own" his or her social network so that the membrs of that network arent allowed to be friends with other members? I grant you that there are some people who seem to be completely parasitic.

Re: Social Poaching
Yes, I believe the article I was reading does pertain to the more "parasitic" types. The ones that just kinda use you for the purpose of getting into your social circle.
The entire article is on the CNN site under "Living".

Re: Social Poaching
