Heart and Soul
Are some of us born with a bigger heart and kinder soul than others and is it in some part of their early informative years for others?
My hubs is a curious one, some things just don't seem to come naturally to him. You know how the rest of us are, if we know someone has been ill or in pain the next time we see them the first thought in our mind and the first words out of our mouths is "How are you feeling, are you feeling better?"
Not for him, those kinds of thoughts just don't seem to enter his mind. Weird eh? If I stumble a bit and lose my footing, it's not in his instinct to grab my arm and help me regain my balance...all this simple little things I could talk about, just not in him.
He has learned over the past several years, that there is a good deep feeling when you do the right thing, and when he does do something selfless, he likes to brag and talk about it which kinda means it's not really that selfless. Maybe he can learn but will it be as sincere as someone who just seems to be born with that big heart and kind soul?
Any of this sound familiar to you, maybe you know someone too that just has to make an effort to be like the rest of us, it just doesn't seem to come naturally to them.

Re: Heart and Soul
I think it is how we are brought up or who we are around that moulds us. My boys are always asking if i'm ok and do i want anything, where as my brothers children don't even think of asking their mum or dad, as their parents don't seem to ask them if they are ok, like i do mine.
I always tell my boys, treat others the way you want others to treat you, and i think that goes for everything in life. If you ask people certain things when you see them, they will automatically ask you the same everytime they see you.
It never hurts to tweek someone every now and then to be more thoughtful, especially if it benefits us

Re: Heart and Soul
I don't know Chazz. Some things just come harder to some people than others. Personally, I am a very tender hearted person and because of that I tend to get to involved in things sometimes. It is like saying "I'm sorry" when you have done something. Some people just cannot seem to make themselves say it.

Re: Heart and Soul
The hubs does seem to be learning.
I had been so worried about a favorite neighbor of mine, he and his wife are in their late 80's and I had not seen him outside for well over a week, there was family in and out of the house constantly and I feared the worse, that he had fallen very ill. (He is back on his feet now, but still not doing too well) His family and wife were doing their best to keep up with the gardening and lawn mowing that he so loves to do and is so proud of.
On my way out to run errands I stopped my hubs on his riding lawn mower, and asked him if maybe he could mow a bit extra for the neighbors to just help them out a bit...by the time I got back, he had mowed their entire large yard full of flower beds and lawn ornaments. I only asked him to do a little, and he on his own, did the whole thing.

Re: Heart and Soul
I've always been a kind hearted and generous person. Time however has made it much more difficult for someone to get to that part of me.
I try to be kind, understanding and patient with everyone no matter how much they irritate me. Moost are surprized when things are going really bad [as they have this month] yet I make jokes about it.

No bears here, just me. [remember, truck drivers don't usually get along with bears]

Yep, I think somewhere along the way, there may have been a bit of a breakthrough, lately these simple things seem to come to him a bit more freely.

Re: Heart and Soul
I always wear my heart of my sleeve, and my soul in everyone's heart with compassion, understanding and love for everyone. Even if I get hurt, I forgive.
