Talula Does The Hula
NZ judge orders 'odd' name change
A judge in New Zealand made a young girl a ward of court so that she could change the name she hated - Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii.
Judge Rob Murfitt said that the name embarrassed the nine-year-old and could expose her to teasing.
He attacked a trend of giving children bizarre names, citing several examples.
Officials had blocked Sex Fruit, Keenan Got Lucy and Yeah Detroit, he said, but Number 16 Bus Shelter, Violence and Midnight Chardonnay had been allowed.
One mother wanted to name her child O.crnia using text language, but was later persuaded to use Oceania, he said.

IF my parents followed this kind of thinking when I was born? I'd probably be named something like Another Mouth To Feed.

I've wondered for years what parents are thinking when they name thier children. Actually, it seems that many parents only think about themselves and not the impact on the child.

Maybe that is where she/he was conceived Slowpoke. Only explanation I could come up with.

I'm bewildered that Keenan Got Lucy and Yeah Detroit were blocked and Number 16 Bus Shelter was allowed!
How did they come to make those decisions?

Who knows what goes into their decision making process. Obviously, not common sense.

My friend who's last name happens to be Mayer [no relation] has two boys. I've told him for years he should have named Kenny [the youngest] Oscar.

my sister's ex is a Brown, he wanted to call their son "Charlie"...and if they'dve ever gotten married, she'da been "Sally Brown"...as in Charlie Brown's little sister...

I knew a girl named Sandra, or Sandy...she was seriously seeing a guy with the last name of Klos...I just thought Sandy Klos would be an odd name, dontcha think?
