Oh Rats!!!
We had a bad storm move through here, the electric stayed on but the cable went out...so...I'm thinkin' perfect day to catch up on some DVD movie watching... Rats! What the hell...I can't seem to remember how to get the DVD player to play, I turn it on, put the dvd in, it loads, it plays but I'm not seeing it on the TV, so I know I'm missing pushing a button in the required sequence somewhere...I've tried a few combinations with the remotes and all but I'm missing a key piece in the puzzle here...I'm an idiot with electronics anyway..

It all depends on how you have the DVD is wired into the TV. If you hook up through the antenna connection you might need to try channel 3 or 4. If you hook to the tv with three RCA connectors that should be color coded Yellow for video, red and white for audio right & left, then you need to change the video input source on the tv. You may have a sourceor mode button on the tv remote to do this. Most newer sets have several input sources. If you look on the back of the set where you wired in the DVD it might tell you which input it is. Something like #1, 2, 3, or AUX possibly. If not try starting the DVD and press the input mode selecting or button till you get picture and sound from the player. If all else fails you might be able to talk me into a house call

Do you have a remote for the tv? look and see if there is a button labled tv/video? for sure there would be one on the set as well. Did you DVD hook up use a cable with three ends? Remember Yellow is for Video, Red is audio/right and white is audio/left. Just to complicate things also make sure you use the output sockets on the DVD to the input sockets on the TV!
