Only figures
So, while driving thru IL I came across what looked like a heavy storm. Seeing lighting for over 20 miles [daytime] I kept watching it and the closer I got the worse it looked. When within about 5 miles, I could see a "wall cloud" and some of the hangy down things with some rotation. I kept going and all that happened was some wind and heavy rain.
I also got to see lots and lots of lighting bugs in both IL and IA. I've always liked "lighting bugs" I just feel bady when they hit the windsheild.
So, my truck cann't find a tornado but manages to kill things I like. Stupid truck---------

Re: Only figures
Eh, don't be too sad about the bugs hitting the windshield....a bug's life is pretty short any how.

Re: Only figures
Aren't there any products out on the market you can use to eliminate some of the condition on the windshield? I'm sure there aren't, and you've investigated every possible solution, only thing I can console you with is a
I know how frustrating and difficult at times being a truck driver can be, from dealing with other truck and auto drivers nonsense, the conditions of roads and weather, lengthy hours driving, it sometimes feels like you'll never get to your destination, never let alone getting home again...it's not an easy job. If it wasn't for all of you truck drivers transporting, where would we be? I give all of you truck drivers the utmost respect!
If you enjoy what you do, that's half the battle, and you'll deal with some of the other negative nonsense along the way, that's with any job.

short of having a "force field", I cann't think of anything that prevents buggs on a windshield. Other than that, it's called window washer fluid

I know this sounds silly, but what about Rain-X, or some heavy duty, strong formula for trucks, or what about what Nascar uses on their windshields, 'peelable windshield strips', with all the hot rubber and crap that flys on theirs?

Re: Only figures
Rain-X makes it easier to remove them, I ned something to keep them rom hiting the truck.--hehe
The "peelable windshields are made from plastic and not federally approved for highway use. Inn fact auto manufacturers have been trying for years to make windows from some type of plastic. For weight and cost savings. Probllem is, they know that they'd be replacing all of them at least once per year because of scratches.

Re: Only figures
Actually, I'm as dissappointed about it not finding a live tornado. Been within 1/4 mile of them and-----nothing.

Re: Only figures
We use to have one of those bug shield/guard things on the front of our chevy pick up...really can't say how well they really work though, I don't drive the truck much.
Uhmmm....I'm sure if you actually were close enough to see a tornado, you'd wish you hadn't...oh sure, they look so cool on the footage you'll see on the news, but they are nothing but havoc and tragedy.

I know how deadly tornados can be. I've been very close and-- nothing. I do know why the storm chasers do that though. It's the excitment.!

Storm chasers that do it for a thrill....yeah, it's a thrill till you're waiting for word to find out if they've dug your family member out of the rubble yet.
