Hit the "New Topic" button please
Use the new topic button ya'all... instead of hijacking a thread.
Off topic means that one topic discussion leads to another topic, but it's still a sincere and open discussion. Off topic isn't too bad of a deal, but a "spin off" post when a thread goes off topic would be even better.
Hijacking is when (usually two people) turn a thread into a personal chatty discussion among themselves regardless of what the topic is. I know it's fun for the hijackers, I use to be a hijacking Queen way back when, but let's make a little bit of effort to keep the forums fun and interesting for everyone and a little in moderation of anything is just fine.
(Ummm....and just to politely mention that the "quote me..quote you...quote me...quote you...means at one point, one post will pretty much takes up a whole page of stuff that's already been posted, read and replied too.)
Both "off topic" and hijacking are natural phenoms of forums, but curbing the hijacking and starting new threads would keep the forums more interesting and lively for everyone else too.
I swear I'm not being all bitchypants about this, I'm just trying to throw a polite reminder out there and encourage new thread posts, Okay?
We all love new topics don't we?

Doesn't sound like your being "bitchypants" at all Chazzy.
I totally agree with ya.
Don't know about anyone else, but those 'quote post, quote post... quote...blah blah!' posts, make me go a bit boggly eyed, to the point where I no longer try to keep up reading them.
No offence to anyone. Just my opinion.

Re: Hit the "New Topic" button please
I know whatcha mean, I quit reading threads I know are hijacked cuz frankly...there's nuttin there for me to read cuz now it's a private conversation.
I would not mind however, seeing new posts made just for the flirting, then I can choose to click or not to click.

It's okay dear, it can be pretty easy to get kinda sucked up into the moment...we've all done it.
Mainly, just want to encourage new threads, all kinds.

Re: Hit the "New Topic" button please
Off topic, like I said...not that big of a deal but it would be nice if a thread starts going too far off topic to just start a new thread...that would be good for all of us.
The "quote" button...I dunno what's up with that, but it does seem to be an easy habit to fall into...I find myself sometimes hitting the quote button unnecessarily or by mistake, then going back ot hit the reply...
Maybe cuz it's a different color than the reply button, maybe cuz of where it's located...I dunno...

Re: Hit the "New Topic" button please
You're very welcome Chazzy, I'm not saying it won't happen again, I'll try to refrain, have better control of it, have the decency to place the if and when necessary, or send a private email to the individual expressing, rather than bumping someones post. When I post it doesn't bother me if someone wants to hijack it, but with respect to all of Web Naughty's family, I totally understand.

Re: Hit the "New Topic" button please
Some threads are made for fun and some made for opinions and discussions of all kinds. There's plenty of room for everything here.
If you don't mind if two people pop into a thread you post, totally ignore you and carry on an off topic personal chat coversation page after page, that's fine...but we still continue to gently discourage it.
Hijacking is a blast, I know, but it's only fun for those doing the hijacking...the majority here says it bores the crap outta them, wastes their time and otherwise can ruin good threads.

Re: Hit the "New Topic" button please
Ooops! Pardon me, when I bumped this up to say thank you, I meant to also say "I'm sorry" to all those who felt I should not have let things go on as long as they did before finally posting something. I am sorry, and for future reference if ya'all think there's too much hijacking going on again, just write me and say so, no problem, I do try to play it loose but still keep order and ettiquette a priority too.
I am sorry, I should have posted something much sooner!
