Anybody in the asphalt business?
I had a new asphalt parking lot put in at my shop 2 years ago and in the warmer weather, oil seems to bleed up to the surface. It gets all over the cars from driving through it and people walk through it and come inside and my carpets get ruined. Anyone had any experience with this or how to fix it? Thanks!

Oh good gawd! That does sound awful! All I could do is google up stuff for ya but I'm sure the words and wisdom from someone who is actually in the business would be far better..
If this post doesn't get you the help you're seeking in this forum, feel free to re-post the same thing in General Discussion where it'll get allot more attention, I'm sure.

Re: Anybody in the asphalt business?
I tried typing in "tar bleeds on new asphalt" on google, and looks like there may be a few search results. I tried a few other keyword phrases but anything about "oily" or oily asphalt got me nothing.

Re: Anybody in the asphalt business?
I don't have much time to read right now, but from what little I could gather, it may be due to not having, or needing a redo of asphalt sealer?

Re: Anybody in the asphalt business?
Asphalt tends to do that in hot weather, even though after 2 years I'd think it would have quit.
I'd suggest checking into haveing it sealed. That may help. The other option I can think of is spreading sand or another substance on it to help absorb the oils.
Asphalt highways don't stay this way because of the amount of traffic and of course salt/calcium cloride use in the winter. both of those tend to eliminate the problem.
OH! Calcium cloride is also used by street crews to help control dust. If some lands on cement in summer, and sits there a while, it'll appear oily.

In the cold snowy and blistery winters here in PA, they use some form of liquid melting chemical, talk about rusting your vehicle, Wow!
