Here's another, Cable or Satellite Dish?
This may have been asked before, Im not sure. For me, its Direct TV. I get so much more than what the local cable company offers and its less expensive too. Even older TVs have excellent picture quality. Cable company would have you believe that you dont get local channels, which isnt true, at least in this area. The only downfall (in my opinion) is the $5 a month extra that you have to pay to have receivers in other rooms.

Re: Here's another, Cable or Satellite Dish?
I tried to get HD Direct TV, but they couldn't find a spot to put it the dish. So now the only thing I can get, it the local cable service. We are still thinking about it, then we may also get the internet service from them also.

I prefer DirecTV, too... but I hate it when it rains and the satellite goes out

Seriously? In the 6 years Ive had it, I think thats only happened to me once and it was in the last 15 minutes of the Friends series finale. Now, heavy wet snow? Thats a whole different story!

My neighbor says the same thing. His goes a fair amount of time when we have any type of weather that includes rain and snow.

Re: Here's another, Cable or Satellite Dish?
i've got digital cable, bundled with high speed internet. my apartment building only allows Dish Network or Mediacom. i chose the cable vs the dish, cuz i don't have a landline phone, and can't get internet through the dish with out it.

Re: Here's another, Cable or Satellite Dish?
Had DISH 500 - Great service, picture quality and good price but did the same as Moons with signal loss in heavy rain and snow. But only for minutes here and there. Have Digital Cable now...Picture sucks on most channels and way over priced but it was the wife choice. She never liked the ugly dish maybe cause I ordered it? Come to think of it she doesn't like me much either!

Losing the signal during inclement weather is a big factor for me, Missouri weather is very fickle.

It was storming pretty bad one night when we lost the signal right before a new Ghost Hunters episode was coming on. Pissed me off to no end!!!

Re: Here's another, Cable or Satellite Dish?
I did have the big dish in my yard at one point in time. It didn't make any difference to the weather, rain, snow, shine. All channels and satellites always come in with no problems. Of course that was 7 1/2 foot dish. I remember when the Superbowl was on, got the network satellite feed, not one commercial. You could hear the announcers talking with producers. It was great.
