Decibels
How loud is your house, your job, your life?
I was raised in a pretty quiet home, Daddy was a swing shift worker so he was often trying to sleep when the rest of the household was up and about.
I really hate yelling, the hubs however...thinks nothing of trying to talk to me when we are on separate floors of the house. If I have something to say to him, I'll just walk the flight of stairs, walk into the room he's at...and just speak...he yells. If I'm outside, he'll yell through the window.
He just had a hearing test, at my request. The test says he's fine but he always has the TV volume up a good 5 or 6 points above what I watch it at.
My street and neighborhood is a quiet one, except for the tweakers down the road a bit, who fly into screaming rages when they have been up way too long. (I've heard they got busted for meth, and it has been allot quieter the past couple of weeks.) Weekends the air is filled with the sound of small engine lawn mowers and weedeaters.
I don't mind a loud bar or club, although I haven't been out in ages, but the loud laughing, talking, and the live music is just part of what makes that atmosphere a party atmosphere.

The neighborhood is usually quiet. The silence is broken when the guy next starts yelling at his wife or when some youngster drives by with the radio loud enough to hear it from servals blocks away. Inside the TV is louder than most people would ahve it. But with my hearing lose, I would miss a lot if it wasn't. I don't so the bar scene, as its so loud, that I can't hear the person next to me, and I don't read lips well enough.

I have a bit of an aversion to loudness...I hate vacuuming and mowing not because of the physical work or drudgery, it's because of the noise.
Yelling just grates my nerves!

When the neighbor started his rampage, you could hear it for a block. I was waiting for him to start hitting his wife, good he didn't as I didn't want go over there and put the cuffs on him. He is such a slime ball.

I hate "domestic dissturbances" in the neighborhood, I've just got the one screaming family next door, they don't go at it often, but when they do, it's a freak show.
I have some neighbors across the creek that like to have big beer blasts, I can kinda handle all the sad cheesy country music blaring, and the whoops and yehawing, but it's unnerving when they start firing off a shotgun just for fun, guns and drunks...just not a good thing.

For living in a trailer park, it's really quiet here. Seldom a "domestic disturbance". Just the occasional loud stereo in a car without a muffler too of course.
It never last long though as they're just passing through.

My hubs is hard of hearing so our tele is usually on louder than I would like. Also have a couple of friends that wear hearing aids but still sometimes have difficulty. They have been persuasive in getting hubs to use closed captioning on the tele and I am glad. Total silence sometimes unnerves me. I like the everyday sounds, clock ticking, fan running, birds chirping, etc. I even go to sleep most nights with a little SOFT music playing.

Have twin boys on one side of us and triplets on the other side of us, and as we live in uk, our houses are closer together than you lucky americans.
But, to be honest, we are lucky, cos the noise level is a bare minimum.
But must admit to enjoying the days when the kids are all at school and everyone else at work and all I can hear are the birds in the trees.
