Where were you?
I just watched a rerun of one of my favorite shows "Third Watch". It was about 9-11. Where were you and what were you doing when you first heard the devastating news? I was working at a sheltered workshop for mentally/physically challenged individuals. One of our van drivers came in and she had been crying. As she was running her route it had come over the radio what had happened. None of us at the workshop had heard about it yet. Needless to say, as word spread, shock, tears, and questions filled the workshop. We brought a television in so that we could keep up with what was going on. It was of course a difficult day. Some of the individuals we worked with understood what was going on and some did not but they all recognized that we were very sad and that something bad had happened. I will never forget that day.

Re: Where were you?
Will never forget that day either. I was at work in a machine shop, when Ma called to tell me. She was at the salon we owned, working on a client. One of the guys at work raced home to get a small TV so we could see what was happening. I remember the boss coming in and yelling at us for watching it and wanting to know who brought in the TV.

Re: Where were you?
I was in work that day when news of it broke, a historically defining and terrible moment.
Here in the UK we've had decades of terrorist attacks, firstly at the hands of many IRA attacks claiming hundreds of lives and now with Islamic fundamentalists. For the US, September 11th was a big wake up call.
I despise terrorism of any kind, but regret being part of a western society that does itself no favours in a current global climate, where diplomacy and dialogue is more important than ever before.

Re: Where were you?
I was working out - at first I thought it was a movie until I realized it was CNN I was watching. I ran home and told my husband to turn the tv to the news and there it was in all it's horror. I held my son and cried and cried. Sorry for all the pain and scared of what was to come.

An hour after it occurred (resided 35 minutes from NYC), we were released from our government jobs and sent home.

Re: Where were you?
I was at work, and one of the dad's came into the school office and told the secretary what had happened, he was known to drink, so she thought he was drunk. When i came home my mum rang me and told me to watch the telly.
I thought at first it was an accident, but when i listened to the news i realised it wasn't. I couldn't believe what i was seeing. My heart goes out to all who lost their lives and who lost loved ones

Re: Where were you?
I was about 40' up working when I got a call ( I work for the phone company) and was told what had happened and to turn on the radio. Then about 20 minutes later I got a call from my supervisor telling me to go home before they closed the border. It was crazy at the border.
My father who also works for the phone company spent the next 130 days straight in the pentagon getting them back in order.
That was one of the craziest times I can remember.
And to this day I feel for all the people that lost loved ones that day.
