But....but...but....
Is it ever enough to say or hear just "I'm sorry"
Have we made a habit of the "Sorry...but" justifications?
We all know we have bad days, bad moods, moments of stress or our brain filters sometimes just shut off...it's the same for all of us.
Is it necessary for you to explain yourself, offer an excuse for screwing up?
Does it ever annoy you to have someone always go into all the "but...." excuses and add ons?
Is just an "I'm sorry, I was wrong" enough?
My own hubs is always blaming or excusing his jack ass behavour with a "but.."
Hell, I don't really need to hear all the justifications, I know him and he just has jack ass moods...
My mother is another one that can't just say "I'm sorry" and let it pass, she has to go on and on about how she is sorry but it's not really her fault.
I think most of the time, a simple "I'm sorry" followed with the proper "Ah forget about it" reply is more than sufficient.

Re: But....but...but....
I would have to agree with you Chazzy. When I say "I'm sorry", mostly its just that and it doesn't happen again. But if someone constantly is doing the same thing over and over, then I guess they can't be too awful sorry, and they haven't learned a damn thing.

Re: But....but...but....
I think a "sincere" I'm sorry should suffice. Everyone screws up sometimes. What annoys me is if you make a mistake (for instance, leaving a name out of a list) and it was truly accidental is for the person to keep going on and on about it after you apologize to them. Like hey, you can't undo something once it is done but you can try to make amends for it so why go on and on.

Re: But....but...but....
I think I'd rather just say or hear the "Sorry I blew up" or "Sorry I screwed up"
It's the excuses that follow that take the sincerity out of it for me...it's the "Sorry but it wasn't really my fault" kinda thing.

Re: But....but...but....
i'd rather not hear the word sorry period. not that i expect people to never fuck up but if you did then you did, "sorry" is too little too late.
