Grand Theft Auto IV
There's allot of criticism of the new game "Grand Theft Auto IV"
Apparently, with this game, you go to bars, get drunk then drive...
Totally tasteless, yep...
I wouldn't buy the game for my young nieces and nephews and I'm sure I would feel some uneasiness seeing any children enjoying the game.
As much as I abhor drunk driving, if my husband bought and played the game, I wouldn't worry that it will some how influence him against his own good judgment NOT to drink and drive.
But the subject matter of drunk driving as a game does turn my stomach.
What do you think of it?
The news and media seem to only focus on the drinking and driving part of this game, but the game reviewers don't even really mention the DWI part and mostly go on and on about all the things that gamers wanna know.
Anybody know much about the game yet tht can give me a more subjective POV?

it's supposed to be pretty violent too, apparently, one can beat police officers with baseball bats, or pick up hookers and kill them...

My oldest has mentioned it, but i don't like the game, can't understand the mentality of people who design these. They may have an age limit on them, but we all no younger kids will play it.

Yeah, I did see a little more on this today, Niko, the main character can pick up hookers, do 'em, and beat them to death with a baseball bat....

Now that sounds like a good time... And we wonder why there are so many kids in trouble. Between the music, video games and tv it's kind of amazing any of um make it past 13 and I'm not even talking about their virginity!

The hubs likes his battlefield and Viet Nam games, and they're kinda violent...but the violence towards cops, women and bystanders in GTA (and a few other games) is pretty...just tasteless and sickening.

I've never got into those types of games. I'll play golf, poker, maybe a car racing one, but nothing like GTA.
