Our future?
Overall, how do you think the current generations of youth today, will be able to run the world when they grow up?
I think allot of them are clueless, self abosorbed and rude but then again, I think most of them that are motivated and ambitious are more socially aware and concerned with the enviroment issues.
Think we are in big trouble or not?

Re: Our future?
i know some are motivated & ambitious, & wanna go places, but i also see the rudeness, the gang bangers, crack houses. the school shootings, its like they have no remorse anymore, I worry where we are headed. I know if i see a elderly couple or lady with a flat tire, i'll stop & change it for em, if i had trouble, the only reason they wud stop wud be to mug me

Re: Our future?
This is a very good discussion, Chaz. I, being from a very small town, see a lot of kids with so much potential. And I honestly do think that growing up in a small town has a lot to do with it. Not everything, but a lot. I'm sure there are people from the big city with the same values as those of the small townsfolk... but there's an abundance of good, wholesome values around here. I see it every day.
For instance, a lot of my daughter's friends. They're awesome kids! I know all of their parents and they seem to have taught them well. But for every "good" kid, there is a "bad" kid. Parents need to start looking at themselves a little deeper... think about the examples your giving your kids... think about the morals you're teaching them. It's not so much "being careful" what you do or say as it is believing in what you do or say... know what I mean? You have to seriously have hope in the future or you just completely give up.. and trust me, there have been times when I wanted to. I see the outside world and it terrifies me sometimes.. but I look closer to home for comfort and hope.
I know, I'm babbling again.. I'm good at that
I just think there is hope for our future generations. Keep passing it down and wait and see what develops.. That's all anyone can do.

Re: Our future?
In dealing with the financial future of people, often I have to ask the question of 50 and 60 somethings about whether or not they could count on their offspring if they became sick and unable to care for themselves in their senior years. It is alarming how many of these people do not feel their kids (family) would take care of them.

Re: Our future?
Working with them you see how they grow and change. I have to say, they come up to the school, shy and quiet, turn into cocky little so and so's and then all of a sudden they become very focused caring young people. There are the odd ones who you think, erm, they won't do to well in the real world, but most seem to have a good out look on life, and i think these are the ones who will stand up and make this country/world a better place. Lets hope they do.
I hear them talking to their mums/dads on the phone and most seem to care what their parents say and feel, and that is what makes them special, it's the ones who don't care, if they can't care about their own parents they won't care about anyone else.

Re: Our future?
It all seems to go back to the parents, doesn't it? And rightly so...
I was just telling my son the other day... You know, when you're out of school and on your own.. when you see people you knew back then... they don't see your status, what you drive, your possessions.. they don't remember you for how wealthy your family was or how poor... they see you for the person you were. How you treated them.. how you treated others.
Then I asked him how he wants to be remembered. He's doin' good so far

Re: Our future?
At one point not so long ago, when Paris, Lindsey, Nicole and Britney were headlining party girls...the surveys amoung school age youths about 10 years old to 18 were disheartening really...they all just mostly wanted to be famous, famous for anything, famous for nothing or be an "assistant" to someone famous ...I hope that is a fleeting thing and will soom pass if it hasn't already.
