Bartering and haggling
Are you any good with the haggling? I go to garage sales and flea markets sometimes, but never got into the price haggling thing...just didn't grow up around it, and never felt comfortable doing it..
And how about bartering? Do you have friends or family that you barter with? I got a brother-in-law that needs to borrow our pick up sometimes, that ends up in bartering, he'll usually offer some firewood or some favor for borrowing the truck for the day. We tend to barter a bit with my brother too.

i always seem to wind up bartering for some ppl that need work done but cant really afford it,, & for a few of them i dont mind

I think it's pretty common in my area, I don't think anybody asks for a favor without offering something in return.
