Martinsville
The NASCAR race is at Martinsville, VA this Sunday.
I've been there and the track isn't as big as it looks on tv.

Re: Martinsville
hmmm...never been to a NASCAR race...been to some drag races, stock car races...even drove in a few when I was young, stupid, immortal and bullet proof...
What's a NASCAR race like? Is the crowd and atmosphere as or more interesting than the race itself?

Re: Martinsville
I've been to one nascar race. The bush race in E. St. Louis. [Harvick won]
It was fun going deaf from the car sounds, but they goso fast, ya cann't keep track of anyone. Much better on TV.
The there people I met there were nice but like most places tended to keep with "thier" people.
I was in Martinsville for work.

I always wanted to know why the senior drivers bother to drive in the Busch series races. Aren't those races for the rookies and the up and comers?

Re: Martinsville
The Busch series cars had been very similar to the Cup cars. The cup drivers would drive the Busch cars to possibly learn morev about making the Cup car work better.

Re: Martinsville
I've been to a road race once. Didn't see much of the race, but sure saw some nice looking ladies. Of course there was the mud pit. Everyone who wanted to could drive through it, well OK, try to drive through it. Even had a MG try to drive into it, but after about 3 feet into it, he was all done. So about 6 of us walked in and picked the car and carried it out. The whole place was more of a large keg party, with several tents of moaning and groaning emitting from with in. Not sure what was going on in those there tents, but definitly had some good times.
