Truckers Strike?
JCSOS and other trucker members, I hear rumors of a one day trucker's strike may be happening April 1....to protest the deisel fuel costs.
Can't blame ya...our heating oil(same thing) costs have made it so hard on us this year, one tank wasn't enough, ran out weeks ago and haven't been able to pay off the high bill to get a refill, so all summer long while we are trying to pay the extra high electric bill for air conditioning, we are gonna have to try to pay off the winter's heating bill too before the next cold season....we're screwed, pretty much just screwed!

Re: Truckers Strike?
I do appreciate truckers, we need them so much, and they keep us supplied and running....but I kinda don't like it so much when they tailgate...scary...

Re: Truckers Strike?
Yes truckers are important,I drove a truck untill Sept.2006,and yes we are getting screwed,I've heard people talk about not driving for a day or buying fuel,it's a good thought butI don't think it will do any good because you have to have everyone do it at the same time and that just won't happend, the oil co. has us by the ass and won't let go.I know some day we might run out of oil,and raising the price will save some of it because the only one's that will be able to buy it are the ones with lots of money! The ones on a fixed income will be hurt real bad.
I don't know what the answer will be.

Re: Truckers Strike?
Won't happen. One, no one is sure of the dates, the feds have made it clear that they will use the reserves and National Guard to keep freight moving.
Besides, have you ever tried to get two drivers to agree on anything?
The fuel prices are something the Federal Government will have to take care of. Please note that NON of the current candidates have even mentioned this, yet claim to care about us.---
We need a president that'll go to OPEC and tell them to lower the price. ---[from Donald Trump on Fox and Freinds this morning]

Re: Truckers Strike?
Been on both sides of a trucker's strike. I know exactly how ugly that could get. I doubt it will happen, either. But, I can tell you, there ain't no way the government can move as much freight as fast or as far. They'll muck it up like always.

Re: Truckers Strike?
I've never been involved in one. I do know people from all sides from the one in the '80s, that strike would have worked if both union and non-union would have stuck at the same time.
The entire thing was ugly--very ugly.

Re: Truckers Strike?
I'd like to wish the truckers luck,I hope they can do some good so alot of them don't have to give up their jobs and their trucks,I know if they can get the price of their fuel down,it will bring down the price of gas, atlease I think it will, Good Luck!

Re: Truckers Strike?
Well, as I figured, nothing happened. A "truckers strike" wouldn't solve anything anyway. It needs to be taken care of at the Federal Government level.
I know that nobody likes paying the curent cost of fuel. However, if you figure inflation, the gas here should be about $6 per gallon.

If it wasn't for our truckers, where would we be? Here's to all of you working so hard for all of us.
