Re: Jaded
To me it means I've reached a point where I feel like I've seen enough, heard enough, nothing surprises me and I just don't want to be hurt anymore. It means I'm tired of dealing with all the crap that life can dish out. It means putting up walls to keep new experiences out, cuz new experiences can lead to bad experiences.
Then once in a while, a good experience comes along. I get to spend quality time with a good friend, or help someone who truly needs me, or take my nieces shopping, or meet a guy who makes me feel like a princess. Then I can smile for a while.
Hang in there, lady... Find something that makes you smile.

Re: Jaded
I know when there is a major situation in ones life, it feels like the whole world is tumbling down, and you feel more vulnerable and on edge. My Mom recently had open heart surgery, so I am worried about her.

So sorry about your mom. We'll keep her in our thoughts and prayers.

Re: Jaded
I'm wishing your mother a full recovery dear....
I think any of us 40ish or older, are facing the reality of our parents "golden years"... mortality sucks... it's bad enough that we the children have to think about losing them, but...that look in my father's eyes, the change in him because he knows that his life is only at best a few years more, it tears down my rationale and strength every time I see him.
The only thing we can truly hold dear is a faith that there is something more, something better after our life here.

Re: Jaded
The brick wall.... we all hit it many times during our lives. And no amount of clever talk or advice will help, because they aren't you.
Only one thing's ever worked for me and that's stopping, thinking of the other walls in my past I got through and survived. And that the next challenge is just another wall I can get over.
Hope your Mum recovers OK, she'll be much better having a stronger you helping her.

Re: Jaded
Tnank y'all , Mom is back in the hospital. She had a really bad morning, took a spill and fell down, told me she really wasn't feeling well. Mom also was having signs of dementia the way she was talking, so I don't know what is going on, or what will happen.

Re: Jaded
Sorry to hear about your mom -- that's a big one. Hope she gets better soon. As for the "signs of dementia", if she recently had surgery, maybe her docter should check out her meds? If she's taking the wrong dose of something, or if multiple drugs are interacting badly, that could cause behavior changes too...
Good luck, and chin up!
