Excuse my absence
It seems every time I think I have a few quiet minutes to log in here...all hell breaks loose again.
The old nearly bling and partially deaf dog I speak of so often had his second stroke last Sunday night and my hubs who cries like a baby when he gets as much as a tiny splinter in his finger has had the whatchacallit sonic wave kidney stone blasting thing done yesterday...he's been home all week...I myself am so close to exhaustion I could just cry and give up sometimes....I'm hoping things are gonna better soon.

Re: Excuse my absence
I'm with you Chazzy. My littlest one had his tonsils and adenoids removed and tubes put in his ears on Thursday. My daughter has the flu and I'm exhausted. I was able to sleep a bit from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. so that tops the night before!
I'm sorry Chazzy, I know it is no fun!

Re: Excuse my absence
I was interupted 3 times just trying to make this one post this morning.
I'm getting at the most, maybe 3 hours of sleep a day and I was not getting much more than 4 hours for months before this week's events.
The dog is up and walking on his own but still needs allot of help getting around he's still dizzy and puking, and it takes a ton of patience to take him out frequently to make sure he doesn't mess in the house. The dog is downstairs cuz he can't do the stairs anymore, the husband is upstairs. So I'm constantly yo-yoing between floors, it's still very cold at night and just gathering kindling and firewood, and keeping the wood stove cleaned and running is a killer job in itself, but necessary to keep us all warm.
It's weird, I'm so exhausted and sleep deprived that when I do get a little time to sleep, I'm dreaming about getting allot more sleep...really weird.
Anyway, my real worry right now is that I drop and collaspe and there will be no one to take care of anyone left standing.

My dear friend, after all this is over, you may want to go someplace for a visit overnight...I know it is hard to leave those behind but your health is a stake. Hugs my friend.

Ah, I got the sweet old thing through his first stroke, and he pretty much came back 100%....I'm hoping I can get him through this one as well too.
It just so sad when it first happens, that scared confused look in his face, but now that he can walk a little now he's getting back to his stubborn and demanding self...
The hubs is still so sore from the ambulatory sonic wave thing he had done at the hospital and is unable to help with anything at all and of course he's a man, so he's even twice as demanding and helpless as the dog!

Re: Excuse my absence
Thanks to all of you, I'm having a better day today, gonna grab sleep whenever I can...
I have never underestimated those of you who are the only 24/7 caregivers to loved ones, I respect that very much even before this past week hit me like a brick and my situation is just temporary...
Caregivers are such a special type of person, I admire you're strength and devotion.

Chazzy, I hope you are now able to recoup some of that rest you've been missing.
I'm home w/my lil one today for the flu. At least I was able to jump on here for a wee bit of time.
Now kiss my Blarney stone young one!

Re: Excuse my absence
Well...spent the entire day till late evening at the hospital yesterday, it seems the shock wave kidney stone ambulatory procedure the hubs had Friday didn't break up the stones small enough, he's doing better today, hooked up to a morphine pump, still not sure yet what will happen next with him or how long he'll be in the hospital...
On the up side...the dog is doing great.

Re: Excuse my absence
It looks like the dog will again make a complete recovery from the stroke, he's pretty much back to himself now except for the head tilt, which of course throws of his balance still, but in time that should pass...I know that one day his time will come, but as long as he wants to live, I'll take care of him.

Awww crap.....I knew it was coming...trying to get through all of this with the hubs and the dog....I now have a sever back strain problem and a huge honkin' prescription bottle full of Vicodin...I'm hurting and hurting bad.
The hubs is up and on his feet, I have to nag the crap outta him, but he is helping out a bit so I can try to recover as quickly as possible...
