First, let me say I am not interested in attempting this. Anything larger than a large dick is not for me.
The Vagina can stretch large enough to accomodate a baby's head, so by no stretch of the imagination would I think large objects could not be inserted. Plenty of lubrication, plenty of patience and time and I imagine that just about anything up to 3 inches in diameter could be inserted. I do not see the eroticism in this sort of activity, but since it is a "fetish" then it must be "ok".
I can't and wont psychoanalyze fetishes. We all have sexual pecularities and oddities, and this one does not appear to be any thing too odd.
