Fresh meat!
Did you go to the same school all through your young life and were you ever the "new kid in class"....did you move around allot as a child or grew up in the same neighborhood?
How often, or when was a memorable time when you were the new one at a school or job or neighborhood? Was it easy or hard for you to fit in or make friends?

Re: Fresh meat!
I went to the same school my entire life...and the great part is that most of us are still friends. There wasn't alot of jealousy between all of us. I was only the new kid on the first day of first grade...

Re: Fresh meat!
born-5 years old, moved
k- in one place, moved
part 1st grade, moved
finish 1st and begin 2nd, moved
finished 2nd through most of 6th, moved
7th - 12th
and even in the "long" stretches i dont think we lived in one house for more than a year at a time.
i did and can make friends fairly easy but somewhere along the way i just gave up trying and now i'm perfectly fine with few "friends" and have a STRONG urge to constantly look for someplace/thing new in my life.

Re: Fresh meat!
I was a military brat, so we didn't stay too long in any one place. I think it was my 3rd grade year I went to 3 differant schools in two differnt states.I never the same school two years in a row, until Pop retired and we moved to Oklahoma when I started the 6th grade.

Re: Fresh meat!
I was born in the town we still live in, but I had to go to school 100 miles south of here every week while my brothers went to school here in our hometown. So basically, I moved every time school started and ended. Throughout the school year I came home on the weekends and such. I did get to go to school here in my hometown my junior and senior year so I could graduate from the same school my brothers did.
I always have been the shy one to make the first move to make friends, but learned (and am still learning) that I can be very socialable if I wanted to be, friend wise.

I guess because I lived in the same place for so long it is easy for me to make friends and keep up those relationships.

Re: Fresh meat!
I didn't move into different school districts, but I do remember the fall I had to go to school on crutches and wearing a brace for my back in the 6th grade. It was the hardest year. I felt so different and scared I would be such a geek. Thank goodness my friends were there for me.

Re: Fresh meat!
My parents still live in the house I was born in.
Went to the same infants, juniors and seniors as my friends.
When we moved into this house, found out that I went to school with my neighbour, now we are really close.
Still good friends with someone I have known since we were babies.

Re: Fresh meat!
You have your "military brats" and your "construction brats". I fell under the second category. My dad was out of the military before I was born. He got into construction and we moved around a lot. Going to school where I live now is my most memorable "school days"... It's where I spent the most years and made lasting friendships. My daughter has a lot of friends that are my friends kids. I think it's pretty awesome
