How was your hospital stay?
I just returned from a 3 day stay at the hospital. I had a recurrence of a lung infection exacerbated by a 15 year old asthma condition and nasal infection. In other words, I had to be transported via hospital limo (ambulance).
I have been in many hospitals in my day but I was floored by the treatment I received. I was treated with the utmost care and concern. Doctors came to see me everyday and the nurses and staff, were great! I now have a thorough understanding as to my condition and a plan of attack to prevent another flair up and another hasty return to the hospital.
Do you have a story that goes along with your most current stay at a hospital? Was it enjoyable or a horror story? or

Re: How was your hospital stay?
Well, hope you're all better now! Sorry to hear you were so sick.
My worst experience was a long time ago but I had to have a minor surgery thing, an exploratory kinda thing.
I remember waking up in recovery pissed as hell but that was in the recovery room where memory is pretty fuzzy.
I woke up in my hospital room, still pissed as hell. I didn't know why but everytime anyone got near me, I went into a rage and demanded that the surgeon come see me immediatly...the pain for this simple little procedure was unbearable and I had all this rage and anger for the surgeon that I couldn't even explain, I would just scream at every nurse that I wanted that man(surgeon) and I wanted him RIGHT NOW!!! He never showed up...it was days later after being out of the hospital that the memory started coming back...I woke up DURING the freakin' surgery!
I started remembering the panic amoung the surgery staff and things they were saying like "MORE GAS! MORE GAS"

Thank you sweetheart for those kind words.
There is a term for what you went through. It means surgical awareness . Surgeons claim it's a very, very rare occurrence, but I too have had that experience. I felt no pain though!!
There is new piece of equipment that has been introduced in the operating room. It monitors your brain and tells the surgeons and assistants when you feel pain even when you are unable to talk or even move so they can increase the sedation.
I'm sorry you had to go through that torture. I would be that surgeons worst nightmare if that were to happen to me. He would be reimbursing me for that kind of treatment.

Re: How was your hospital stay?
I've never felt so much anger...and not consciously even know why, all I knew is I wanted that surgeon in front of me so I could strangle the livin' crap out of him!
I did request and receive the OR's transcripts to back up what I was remembering, and the memories were real, but right after I got a transcript copy, all other copies at the hospital and surgeon's files "disappeared"..

Re: How was your hospital stay?
I spent 36 hrs in the hospital right before Christmas when I had my mini stroke The doctors explained every test and what it was for The nurses were great Treated me with kindness and respect even when I couldn't talk right
One nurse even stayed over her shift time to sit with me
They were very understanding when it took me forever to say or ask for any thing

Re: How was your hospital stay?
My last stay in the hospital was incredible. Every nurse took wonderful care of me and the thing they didn't do was interupt my sleep the entire time I was there...either that or the drugs were so good I didn't notice. My doctor was wonderful, he looks a little like Sean Connery so not a bad deal with a Texas twang and awesome cowboy boots. After the ordeal was over he kissed me on the forehead and gave me a big hug and told me I was one of his favorite patients!!!
