Billboards
I guess this might be just an American thing, my husband has mentioned several times that in England, they don't have highway Billboard ads (and even all the utility lines are underground and not visible)
Do you see them as useful, or an eyesore?
Some are good, they show thousands everyday the face of a missing child or a sought after fugitive.
I don't mind them much in my area, it's so wide open and country here that a few sprinkled about don't bother me at all. Sometimes it's the only way I learn of a new service business or that a new store has opened up near by.
And the ones that get painted onto barn roofs, ah hell, those are just a cute part of rural living.

Re: Billboards
Now all the crap that people staple and tack to poles...yuck...last years yard sales signs, paper "spam" flyers like affordable health insurance! Work at home! Lose weight fast!
That kind of crap...

Re: Billboards
In the city there are billboard everywhere and I think it should be regulated. Some cities are worse than others. I do admit I like the little towns that don't allow all the big signs over restaurants and advertisements are kept at a minimum. I agree signs for children missing, etc. are a neccessary thing but I don't care how a BUDlight bottle looks in a football uniform.
As for the signs on poles, etc. If you put them up then you should have to take them down after your event. Plus, who sees those little signs?

Re: Billboards
i take that back, it's only illegal if you attach them to a light pole or telephone pole or any public post...once, a long time ago, some poor soul actually put on on the face of a stop sign...she thought it'd "catch the eyes" of a lot of people, unfortunately, it caught the eye of a police officer, and of course the address was clearly posted on the sign...

Re: Billboards
We do have boards advertising stuff over here. Sales and whats going on. They are usually in the bigger towns and out side shopping centres. London has a fair few advertising shows and events.
