Valentine's Day
OK, tonight I stopped at Target to pick up a couple of things I'd forgotten (I bought the kids Valentine's for school week's ago)...all hell had broken loose on the candy aisle...there were cards strewn from heck and back in the greetings section.
My question is this...does anyone really go for the sentiment of the holiday anymore? Is it just a way to put pressure on a relationship to act a certain way on one day of the year? I was worn out just getting out of that place.
For those of you going for the romance tomorrow, enjoy and bless your sweet hearts, I'm not trying to take away from it. It was just a mob scene and I thought it was a bit over the top.

Re: Valentine's Day
It is never over the top....This is the exact the moment weak men can be bold in their expression of Love just as a woman would want man to be.....Yes, too bad, it's once a year. Hope you have no problems there

Re: Valentine's Day
I think it's another marketing scheme, as if there weren't enough of them already. But just in case I bought my wife a $50.00 dz. of roses. It sorta helps when I forget our anniversary. I said sorta cause it definitely ain't a cure LOL
Happy "Valentines Day" to all the Ladies

Re: Valentine's Day
It has been turned into a money spinning day, which is such a shame, we shouldn't be drawn into the money side, trying to buy the biggest or best thing in the shop, true romance and showing someone how much you love them, doesn't have to cost anything.

Re: Valentine's Day
Last minute shopping...I think it's just another adrenaline rushing extreme sport for some (usually men)
They do the same thing at Christmas.

Re: Valentine's Day
yes, Valentines' Day is commercialized, but don't let that distract from your celebrating the day.
All our holidays are highly commercialized, its the nature of our "economic beast"..and the reality of our world...yet, the only reason it exists as an economic and commercial entity is that the spirit of the day lives on and permeates our society.
thus, your affection and expression of love is manifested in the purchse of flowers and or chocolates, lingerie, toyz, and dinner...then "good for you"...let it be!
Its the thougth that counts and the shared intent of both persons of participating in the event for today, in this case Valentines' Day...
Celebrate it!! and "git ya some"!!

Re: Valentine's Day
I would rather have one special gift he didn't have to buy but did just cause he wanted to any day of the year than to have 10 gifts because he felt he had to buy them
hope that makes sense
happy valentines day
