Ice Road
Have become addicted to a new television programme being broadcast over here every friday night at 8pm, Its a documentary about the ice road that opens for 60 days a year in Canada, absolutely brilliant, to watch these truck drivers taking their lives in their hands to deliver supplied to the diamond minds.
Is anyone else watching it or know about the "ICe Road"?

Re: Ice Road
I've seen that show. It is facinating. I also know that I couldn't do it. I'd go to sleep driving that slow.

You wouldnt want to be sleeping in that situation JC, and go off the road into the lake!!, the cold water might wake you up though!!!! lol lol
Dont think, in all seriousness, I could do it either...is it really worth it? money isnt everything...

Re: Ice Road
As a professional truck driver (or professional steering wheel holder as I call myself ) driving on ice is no picnic, granted I'm not driving on that particular Ice Road, but I think it's far more dangerous driving around people I have seen, reading a novel at 70mph while driving, putting on mascara while driving through a red light, masturbating while looking at a porn dvd and driving, and the worst, driving 40mph on a 70mph highway in the middle lane causing a huge accident waiting to happen scenario.

You forgot to mention the truck drivers reaading, playing with the qualcom or other 'puter with thier foot on the dash. Also on cell phones or generally paying less attention to thier driving than a woman with a mini van fill of unruly kids.

I* woulodn't care to be in that situation. I learned long ago that driving on a frozen lake isn't a good idea.

Re: Ice Road
the scariest bit of driving i ever witnessed (not me folks,i was just a hapless passenger) was July 9,1997. i was on a local volunteer rescue squad and a call went out for a 2-vehicle accident about 4 miles from where i was working. the lady that drove me was also on the squad. imagine my horror as she barreled down this narrow blacktop road and 85 mph while trying to FIX HER HAIR !!!!!we managed to get there, but i swore i would never ride with that idiot again !!!!!

I've been watching that aswell, really interesting, they are so brave, the ice looks so thin in places and those trucks are so big
