Extra bag?
United Airlines has announced that starting immediately, they will allow one checked bag at no charge but $25 for the second checked bag and $100 for each checked bag after that.
My wife is a big time packer and as such, she'll take about 3 changes of clothes per day when she travels. That adds up to a bunch of bags to check. I told her that she will be allowed one carry on bag and one checked bag.....at no cost. After that, you wanna play, you gotta pay!!!
Any comments?

Re: Extra bag?
Great idea but don't you need to be clothed while on the plane?

Seemingly not - there's a german airline offering nudist flights! It was on the news last week. You just have to be extra careful when buckling the seat belt!!

Re: Extra bag?
Why do these fat ass airlines charge these absurd prices?....Well, simply, because they can!
Unless It's absolutley vital to pack up to 3 changes of outfits per day...I think its just a case of Pay Up! or Shut Up.
They have got us over a barrell.

At first instinct, yeh but when you sit down and calculate the cost of gas, tolls, hotels along the way......no way!Flying there, expensive on the surface, is the only way to get there.
Hartford Ct to Tampa Fl.....$250 r/t. You're there in 2hrs.
Driving there....minimum 4 day trip/1800 miles r/t...Your vehicle averaging 24 mpg= 75 gallons @$3/gal=$225r/t plus 2 nights hotel at $75/nt=$150. Just getting there and back should cost you at least $375 and that doesn't include food, beverage or tolls during the trip.
Driving there is no picnic. The traffic and the boredom....

The EU are about to ban all new cars that don't do at least 30 MPG

Now that is my kind of airline. There is one airline here in the states that also offer nude flying. Its only goes to a few stops, but I guess ya got be clothed to get to the airport, so well
As far as having to have 3 changes of clothes per day. Personally, I feel that is a bit over kill.

I agree wholeheartedly but we're talking about my wife here! She has certain rules and that's the way it is! She plans for 3 changes per day while on vacation, period! Very rarely does she ever change that often though.
During the winter, that means mucho amounts of sweaters plus extra pants, shirts and shoes so that adds to the amount of luggage she requires.
What am I gonna do, argue with her? I'm gonna freakin' lose!!!! I've learned after 310....er..31 years....just focus on a spot on the wall and let it happen!!! That's the nature of the beast......
