Re: Valentine's Day
I once was given a homemade fudge brownie cut into a heart shape, placed in a heart shaped candy box, and surrounded with red and white M&Ms, which spelt out our initials.
Just a small gesture, but it meant such a lot.

Re: Valentine's Day
made a fire in the fireplace to warm the house and greeted me as I arrived home late from work wearing lingerie, red of course, a bottle of champagne and had chocolate fondue blanket-side...the blankets were layed out in front of the fireplace on the floor, and she was sitting on the blankets when I arrived...pretty romantic.

Re: Valentine's Day
There was a Jewel song called I hate Valentines day, I'm all for it.
One year I got her to get all dolled up, visited granmama's grave then went out for a late lunch... that was about it.

Re: Valentine's Day
I dunno...I may be way off here...but it just seems that Valentine's Day creates allot of pressure on guys...I'm bettin' that they really worry about the gift being right, romantic enough, and...maybe even worry about their woman comparing HER gift to gifts other women got?
I don't doubt that maybe choosing a Valentine gift makes good, sane thoughtful imaginative men choke under pressure?
My ex husband always bought me nice jewelry, but I really never cared for jewelry...the chocolates and flowers are always a good bet...who doesn't like candy and flowers?
But seriously, if any of my men, past and present had stopped to think for just one moment, who I am, who they are really buying the gift for...they would have shopped at one of my favorite antique shops! I've never really gotten a Valentine's Day gift that seemed to be for me ...The guy buying the gift seemed to be trying to hard to buy a perfect gift, like his entire sex and romantic live depends on the perfect gift...over thinking it all....
Is buying a Valentine's Day gift allot of pressure for guys?

may sound kind of abnormal but it's a stupid day, just do something nice for someone everyday if you care for them. If everyone tried to do something nice each and every day a lot more marriages would stay intact. Like a hot cup of coffee waiting on the bathroom counter when you get out of the shower. The simple caring things are so overlooked

THe perfect gift doesn't exist, trust me on this, the perfect presentation is what to aim for, making a memory outtrumps any gift you can give.

Re: Valentine's Day
Im one of them that likes to put time and effort into showing him i love him. Sure i'll have to spend some money to get what i want to get him, as long as i put some time into making the whole thing come together, even if i don't do it on a daily basis.
It's the little things that makes the big things count.
i love you, bcb

Re: Valentine's Day
For me it isn't about the gift, it is the time invested in me. For instance, the perfect time for me would be to take a walk along the beach at sunset and hold hands...or rent movies and cuddle up in bed together and watch something mushy and romantic (which a guy wouldn't normally watch) for me. The flowers and candy stuff is nice but wouldn't a homemade coupon book with some of my favorite things like...
This coupon is good for a bubble bath...
This coupon is good for thirty minutes of quiet time...just the two of us cuddled up...
It would require thought about the things I like but if that person really knows me he would know what I like...

Re: Valentine's Day
I really don't care about a gift either...except maybe the chocolates and they don't have to come in a big red heart box.
The price of red roses during this holiday is ridiculus, especially when dasies are my favorite...and I think all the jeweler's diamond commercial on TV to be just silly.

Re: Valentine's Day
When i was 16 a boy at school gave me a little box and inside was a pink heart and it said, "There will never be anyone other then you, i'd trust my heart with".
I still have it.

Re: Valentine's Day
yeah..the gift things is silly...superficial really!
flowers are ok..just the message they convey...but a man should be doing that regularly anyway...flowers or plants or whatever "floats her boat"...different women like differnet things...
guys...well we're pretty easy, I think...we like pretty much ONE THING!!! LOL

Yeah, I remember a comedian doing a bit making fun of Cosmo magazine because they have articles on how to make your man want you in bed...he said just a suggestive glance is more than enough for most men, why waste the paper.

The original message would work from someone I was in love with... as for the rest, well I'm not sure love would really come into it much. could just save time and say just fuck me every day, happy valentines day.
