Heath Ledger
I was real sad to hear about the great actor Heath Ledger, passing away yesterday. 
Just 28 years old, how tragic.

It is tragic, he didn't seem to be the self indulgent, self destructive type either...just a guy who had trouble getting enough sleep...
Around our house, we have the same meds, presciption and OTC sleeping pills, we do abuse and over use them and I realize it isn't good, but dammit, chronic insomnia and a general lack of sleep sometimes drives you to desperate and stupid things.

I agree Chazzy. I had over a year of insomnia and it was so destructive to my mental state. If you can't sleep nothing seems right.
My heart goes out to Heath's family, and especially his little girl who will never really know her Daddy. I saw him on Oprah right after Broke Back Mountain was released and he seemed like the nicest guy ever. Very sad to lose your life when you are only trying to get some rest and have been feeling bad.

Some of the rumors about the causes of his death is suicide due to his depression over his part in BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN.

Yeah, some of the rumors are that it was suicide due to his newest movie part as a psychotic maniac in a Batman movie...it's all rumors...I don't even think it was suicide...
Till the autopsy reports are released, I'm going with the insomnia theory...like Juils said, severe insomnia can really jack up your head fiercely.

Yeh, I gotta think it's probably due to a sleep deprivation disorder and not due to any factors that the rumors addressed.
It's been said that the masseuse who found him, did not call 911 but dialed one of his girlfriends to ask her what to do! Can you believe that?

The "girlfriend" was Mary Kate Olson, of the Olsen twins child stars..
I guess I can so easily buy into it being more of an accidental overdose thing and not an intentional suicide...very tragic.
I'm so sleep deprived myself...I've had the insomnia thing before, it's a weird place to be and really messes you up...right now I'm sleep deprived because of the husband's work schedule and caring for the old dog...he (the old dog) wakes up several times a night sometimes for weeks at a time...it totally fucks me up...desperate for sleep sucks...

Right now I'm having some sleep issues that are messing with me too. My kids both have coughs and the dog is wanting to go in and out all darn night. Night before last I let her out two time, last night it was three. It is too cold to leave her out but the up and down thing is kicking my butt. My body still hasn't completely recovered from my surgery last month and by the end of the day I feel like I need to get the license number of the truck that ran me down...

I had heard one report that he had pneumonia or some illness.. and the pills, of course. He definitely didn't seem like the type to commit suicide. At least I didn't think so... and yes, very sad.. he was good.

Really sad and such a shame to go at such a young age and with a great career in front of him.
His poor family, it's a tragic loss.
