Toys For Tots
Gawd I just love this organization!
They must make such a difference to so many children.
I remember when I was growing up, oh there were some real lean times when I still believed in the magic of Christmas and Santa Claus.
After the Christmas Holiday and back in school, everyone talking about all the things they got for Christmas, and I'd wonder....I'd wonder why Santa liked other kids more than me, and gave them better and more things, I wondered why Santa liked me better than good friends of mine that got hardly anything at all...sometimes the meanest kids got the best stuff and I wondered why that was.
I think about those times, when my daddy was hurt so bad from the accident at the mines, and what my parents sacrificed for their kids during the holidays. How much it must have hurt them not to be able to do more, to spare us from wondering why Santa liked the rich kids better...
With "Toys for Tots"....there's allot less children wondering about things like that...

Re: Toys For Tots
the US Marines do a wonderful job. They have said that this year donations are down, as has the Salvation Army. But then with all the recalls, they have search and check to make none of the toys are on that list.

Re: Toys For Tots
The local radio station KFKF's weather man just spent 35hrs and 50 minutes on the roof of a Wal Mart collecting toys for Toys for Tots
He stayed up there til they collected a goal of 94,000 toys
Total collected in that time was 94,010
Job well done for the kids of this area

Re: Toys For Tots
I know what you mean and coming from family with eleven kids one present was all we got.We did get something from our Godparents made it nicer.Toys for tots is great and other ways to brighten up Christmas for children that need it.Christmas means birth of Christ to most of us now but a whole lot more to a child.

Re: Toys For Tots
I really didn't know what to buy for the "Toys for Tots" this year, like flp said with all the recalls I would hate to buy stuff that would just get sorted out and tossed aside...I tried to stick with family board games, like Monopoly, CandyLand, stuff like that...I figured for one, they wouldn't be on any recall lists and secondly...I just like to think that these kinds of games would mean several in the family, or the whole family could spend time with and with each other even though I know these old standards don't compare to the techie stuff like Wii, playstations and all that...
