The suicidal and homicidal snipers...
Doesn't it just wanna make you scream out loud when the deranged and unbalanced commit these tragic violent acts?
First thought is of course..."What the fuck?...shooting down women, children, ordinary good people just going about living their ordinary good life?"
But then the deeper, but more confusing thoughts come about...things like, "Didn't anyone see this coming?"
I wonder about these people, they say sometimes they just snap? I dunno, someone somewhere close to these people have had to have seen some symptoms, some red flags, some signs.
I kinda understand someone getting so depressed, feeling so hopeless that they do, or think about taking their own life, depression is an illness....but how "sick" is someone that commits this kind of thing? How does one go from "The world is better off without me" to " The world is better off without me..and you...and you two...and you over there...and you and your kid..."
That kind of mind...That's gotta be a very dark place.

So much sorrow this time of the year for some. The people that have nothing taking it out on others. The depressed people not caring of there own lives taking those that do.The one in Omaha hit close to home and just keeps making us all cringe.

Re: The suicidal and homicidal snipers...
It seems to me from what they report in the news after the fact is that there WERE tell tale signs that the person was deeply depressed or the like. Not enough people these days want to step in and dig deep into other people's psychy... or maybe if they do, they don't know WHAT to do...

Re: The suicidal and homicidal snipers...
Tis the season for suicide's and a rise in the death rate. Statically, the time between Thanksgiving and the New Year, is when suicide rates climb to there highest, and the death rate also climbs for the elderly. This is also the time of the year when depression hits the high peak.

Have to agree with you. Also so much coverage by the press on these people/incidents and suddenly we have the copycats. When the Texas mall shooting happened, how many more mall shooting have happened across this country? It gives this poor person 30 seconds of "fame" and the nobody no becomes a Somebody. He/She will be remembered by the victims family and sad to say...looked up to by some. What a sad world we live in. Sorry to say..if someone feels like they have to end there life for what ever reason..do it to themselves and become a funky smell in the woods. Don't bring their grief and misfortune to others. Sorry, long winded. Sore Point with me.

If your going to end your life by your own hand, there is no sense in spreading your misery to others. As far as the funky smell in the woods, you can do some good that way, be part of the food chain, in reverse.
I've had misfortune of responding to a couple of suicides. At least we where there shortly after they did the deed. I did send one deputy out to the scene of another, but that one they where out in the woods in their locked up car for about 2 weeks, in the hot summer, before they were found. Not a pretty picture. Glad I wasn't on that one.

Re: The suicidal and homicidal snipers...
I don't like guns but if someone were carrying one that day maybe they would have gotten him earlier. Almost like the wild west all over again. Legal or not the nuts will always get them. That's the scary thing , don't you think

Re: The suicidal and homicidal snipers...
Of course if anybody really wants anything they will be able to get it, and it's not a problem known only to america, but making it a bit harder to get hold of guns can't hurt.

Re: The suicidal and homicidal snipers...
I agree, but the older i get the more i think of getting a gun and I am not that type. But, if someone comes in my house I want to be on an equal level and i know they will have one. He or she may walk in but won't walk out.
it's unfortunate that our law officials can't control. The whole worls is wacky

Re: The suicidal and homicidal snipers...
I'd like to quote a line from a CD song....
"Now they're tryin' to take my guns away and that would be just fine, if you take 'em away from the criminals first I'll gladly give ya mine....."
There will never come a day when a person who intends on doing harm to another will NOT be able to get a gun or some other weapon to do the job. As long as that is the truth, my guns are staying right where they are!

Re: The suicidal and homicidal snipers...
Such sorrow felt for the families of the victims of these brutal attacks. There holiday season shattered with their loss.We can only give them our thoughts and prayers and hope that when we are finished on Christmas morning unwrapping presents that there will be none left to unwrap under our trees.

Ya' know, it's funny that people think guns should be outlawed. I could kill a person with 1/4 of an inch of my pocket knife! I can bash someone's head in with a bat or a tire iron! With enough force, I could kill a person with one blow with my bare hand! WTF??!!!! You want me to cut 'em off? They're weapons, too!

Sounds good, "outlaw cars". Just think of how cheap gas will be for those of us with motorcycles.
