How Blue Are You?
We all have blue periods in our lives. Right now I feel lower than a snake slithering in a gulley.
How often do you get blue, and how bad is it usually?

just not looking forward to spending the holiday season alone. I've never been alone at this time of year before . I guess it's a good thing I don't drink

Thats a lot of stress in such a short time.
Well, you could always visit Canada. New sites, etc., and you could stay with me for a vacation!

um... for me not too often, can only say twice? but both times lasted months. how bad? well lets say i dont notice the chirping birds or sunrise... and at its worst its even affected my diet to the point of loosing some real weight. BUT thats only like a very short part of the time... maybe a week?. mostly i'm fine, just not happy. call me crazy but i like the swing from high to low to high... lets me enjoy the good times so much more. a lot of mumbling here... hope you can pick out a word or two!

Re: How Blue Are You?
I just caught the end of a documentary on Robert Maxwell. He lived high off the hog and then was found drowned, and many suspect suicide. His favorite saying was: "In Life it is Better to Have a Horrible Ending than Horrors Without End".
Interesting.

Re: How Blue Are You?
I remember when I was a small boy and I cried because of the second hand shoes my father made me wear to school, my parents being broke, my father said to me you cry because of the shoes I found for you, when you should be crying for the children in this world that do not have feet to put shoes on.

I'll second that thought. I had an 11 year marriage that seemed endless...very black period in my life.
As concerns blue periods - I found that lack of sunlight can bring on a blue funk. When I moved back up to the North, February's were brutal due to it being cold and overcast. Moving back South cured that.
Now about the only time I get blue is when I think about a couple of close friends that are no longer with us (like right now as I'm writing this).

Yeah, like there are thousand of THOSE people around. Parents are always good for really useful saysings. My Father used to say "Like God Made Little Green Apples". WTF does that mean!?!?

Moving back South cured that. Thats a real syndrome, and very serious for some people. Its called "Seasonal Affective Disorder - SAD". Doctors prescribe special lights that you sit near. The spectrum they give off is more like summer and really helps.
