manners
what ever happened to old-fashioned manners ? as a boy growing up in the midwest,i was taught to say "please" and "thank you" regularly by my mother and father. these days (and i am not just talking about the younger generation here) its like "yeah", or "no problem" , or "i want that"!!! sorry folks,i just dont get it ? have we become a society so numbed by the war and the terrible things that people are doing to each other that we cant manage to be gracious in our dat-to-day lives ? ok, sorry if i was ranting, but would certainly like some input on this so i know i am NOT the only person this bothers.........................

Re: manners
I tend to agree about the manners. Very interesting how society has changed over the last forty odd years, isn't it?

Re: manners
You're not alone. I think there are a lot more mannered people out there but all the rude people today makes us think everyone is

Re: manners
it's all in the upbringing...to many young kids having kids way too soon, before they are ready. besides that...teenagers these days know that they have rights, but when i was younger, i would never have had the guts to say things that todays teen have said to me, for fear of getting my ass kicked....but they know that we, as adults, can't touch them, or we'll get assault charges brought on...

Re: manners
Manners were very important in our house. My Dad was in the Navy for 20 years and if you didn't say please or thank you, you got a blessing out!

Re: manners
I can't stand to see kids using vulgar language and acting like idiots!
Once a long time ago, when my boyfriend's 11 year old started acting so very badly when we took him to the movies, the kid wouldn't listen to reason and just kept getting meaner and meaner so I threw him an (empty) threat that worked....I told him.. "Hey, I can't legally slap the crap outta you, but I sure can pay that big 14 year old over there 10 bucks to do it for me!"

I agree. Rudness and demanding have become normal. However, I also doubt that being at war has anything to do with it.

Re: manners
If when going up we would have talked the way some children do now days I would not be here to talk about it
My parents raised us with manners and to show them
IF you didn't say please and thanks you didn't get what you wanted but instead got a good swat for your troubles
take care

My youngest tried that with Ma. She even volunteered to call 911 for him, but to make sure that he also request a ambulance. The youngest asked why and Ma said "if I'm going out of here in a squad car, your going out in a ambulance. That way you'll know what abuse is". By the way, she didn't have to make that call.

Re: manners
I was going to a pup to watch some sports last night. Walking in front of me was a really hot girl . We got to the entrance about the same time. I held the door for her, she said nothing so I said to her your welcome and no response. i was wondering do some bitches feel it is coming to them. she may be hot but she is IGNORANT and I wouldn't screw her with George Bush's dick.LOL. If I run into her again, I'll hold door again but next time I'll say your welcome BITCH

If someone holds a door open for me, which happens frequently at our post office and I do the same for others, I ALWAYS say thank you... if I can plainly tell that the person is my elder, I say, "Thank ya', ma'am or sir."
I was taught manners growing up and now it just comes natural.

I have to admit I am always pleasantly surprised when someone holds the door open for me. That may be because everyone here seems to be in such a hurry, but it is a nice feeling.

Re: manners
I went to an outdoor all day concert yesterday with a friend and 4 15 yr old girls. One was the child of my friend. We all tend to dwell on the neg in kids today but boy how refreshing those kids were.
There were the atypical (I believe)13 year olds walking around with t shirts on reading "It doesn't lick itself " These kids don't even know what sex is yet. Back to the kids I went with (there is hope) well mannered, polite, sweet, cute. The way 15 yr olds should be
I had a program of the band times for the day ,A teen boy sitting on lawn behind me asked me " May I see your program, he said thank you sir and when he returned it said thank you again. (he could have left the sir out LOL, feeling old
THERE IS HOPE
