Black Friday
Anybody do any shopping Black Friday?
I did, my first time ever, I had several small kitchen appliances poop out on me this past month, and the deals on Friday to replace were too good to pass up...but what a crazy experience!
I don't ever want to do that again!

Never never , my brother was driving home 10 pm thanksgiving night. A mall was opening at midnight, he got stuck in 2 hrs worth of traffic on highway leading to mall.

Re: Black Friday
We went to a small mall by our house at midnight. I needed work pants and at 50% off I figured it was a good time to go. It was busy but nothing like the big stores. I was in and out in about 15 minutes.
We did Wal-mart one year and have not been back since.

Re: Black Friday
Been there, done that many times in the past. I've been on TV numerous times standing in front of stores at 3am, looking like a freakin' assh*le!! No more black Fridays for me thank you!!

My wife and I go on Wed, Thanksgiving Eve. We get some good buys and occasionally get the Black Friday prices and the best part, there is hardly anybody there. Try it next year......

Re: Black Friday
I had to go out and see students so I stopped by Walmart on my way home - what a mess! I bailed out of Walmart and tried Staples - much more manageable, though I didn't get everything I wanted - I really wanted a webcam that followed motion so that when I teach we could record it, but oh well. I got the kids the TV they wanted and I guess that is more important.

I had plans to go with a couple of the girls from work but woke up with a rip roaring headache. Spent the whole day in bed! Was so disappointed.

Re: Black Friday
I went into Walmart for the 5am sale only because I was already up at that time, my husband insisted we go...he had no idea what the hell "black friday" was really.
It was pretty well organized, we got in and out in 10 minutes but it sure was a wild sight!

He freakin' damn well knows now, doesn't he? I'll bet he couldn't believe his freakin' eyes when those doors opened at 5am, the people pouring into that store. Unbelievable......

Re: Black Friday
The Walmart was a 24 hour one, so the only lines were inside.
They had wrapped up pallets of the specials and people were piled up around them.
With the two of us there, one waited safely by the cart a few aisle away and the other one would go in and pluck what we needed off the pallet.
Yes VB, he did freak when we approaced the entrance to the over flowing parking lot and he saw cars parked all around the sides of the store and cops positioned around the entrance.
We only saw one incident as we left the store. One angry woman having a bit of a fit cuz something she wanted was in limited quanities, and she didn't get hers.

Re: Black Friday
I've done the 3am line waiting at various times in the past, such as during the CABBAGE PATCH craze in the late '80's. That was an experience but nothing like the line waiting is now, such as for PLAYSTATION 3. That's nuts!! People getting shot!!

I go the night before THANKSGIVING aqnd find that the maqlls are very empty......and the department stores usually offer up some very good buys.

Re: Black Friday
Walmart is one of the few that has good traffic especially on black friday. Used to work there and in my experience of being there on that day afterwards, too, I never had any problems with cranky customers, etc. Probably cuz the nice, good customers liked me..... or was I dreaming? lol. Well... that was the case anyways. I'm not there anymore..... so SUCK WALMART ASS cuz I ain't doing it no more.

Wow, you are a disgruntled ex-employee, aren't you? lol

As for cranky customers, I had my share while in retail. I always let their attitudes slide. That way, I never "took it home" with me.

Yeh, yeh, I know I said last year that I'd never do another Black Friday but guess what? I did it again. We needed to buy my 9y/o great-nephew a Nintendo DS and it had to be in red so off I went like some crazed asshole looking into about 5 different stores until I found one. Guess where? Why, my favoritist store of all, Walmart!! Oh the humanity!!!!

Anyway, Pennys seemed to get the most doorbuster patrons with lines at the checkout about 45mins long! Freakin' nuts, I tell ya!!!

People seem to lose their understanding of right and wrong when it comes to situations such as this. Hell, they were lined up from sometime Thursday evening for that Friday morning opening. For what, some crappy, second rate flat screen tv's?

Re: Black Friday
I bet they go after the store. The stores are the ones that cause this, They have all those fantastic savings but there is only a handfull you can get.So people push and pull to get there so they can get it. They need to do something different.

There you go, even a mother-to-be got caught up in that madness. A lot of the excitement was caused by the flat screen tv "bargains" that they offered. Man, that's just plain nuts!

Not much news about the two that shot themselves at a Toys R Us in Palm Desert.
Arguing about something. I stay away from these places, especially the three days after turkey day.

Re: Black Friday
As to the stores that offer "bargains" such as Walmart and those crappy flat screen tv's, why didn't they give out certificates to the people waiting outside? If they had ten in stock, give 'em out to the first ten people who wanted them?

I can imagine fifty people rushed to that department only to find that the allotment was long gone!! A tragedy just waiting to happen.....and it did!!!
