Cocoa Cola
Hi All
Just watched a documentary about Cocoa Cola and its dark side. had no idea they used child labour, large amounts of caffeine and filled streams and rivers with caustic soda and soaps in small villages.
The programme took 3 years to make and it sure opened my eyes.
I do not actually like the taste and limit my kids consumption to birthdays and xmas, so pleased I do.

Re: Cocoa Cola
I read once where if left to sit Coke would clean rust off pipes , poured on battery terminals would clean them. If you need to clean stains in a toilet pour coke in and let it sit, cleans it right up. Scary to think what it does to our insides

I have used Coca Cola several times to clean off battery terminals. That's why I never drink it!

Re: Cocoa Cola
Buying what's affordable, available, wanted and/or needed is always a conundrum with me....Big companies provide money into our economy, and often contribute in big ways to charities and communities...but then again, like Walmart...I don't like the way their employee practices are, but they do give back to the community in allot of ways. I don't like that once a Walmart hits town, so many small business close, and the majority of the community really has no choice but to shop there...but they do provide affordable merchandise to those who desperately need to stretch their paychecks. They provide allot of jobs, but do those jobs provide employee's with reasonable health coverage and other benefits?
And what about the merchandise? I'm sure a huge percentage does come from poorer countries where the laws do not have a priority for protecting the environment, or include any strict labor laws...
Yes, I buy products that the origin, or consequences of producing may be veiled, and yes I do have a strong social conscience...

Re: Cocoa Cola
When I was kid, oooo so long ago, I bought an old engine. The pistons where rusted to the cylinder walls, so I poured coke on them, and in about month, I was able to move pistons.
Rum and coke isn't so bad either.

Yup, sure does these things. One thing i haven't seen mentioned is that the ORIGINAL formula used cocaine instead of caffine. There-by the name. Most companies used child labor and polluted heavily when this company was started.

When it is all said and done, we are either Coke or Pepsi drinkers -- and I think it starts in the womb!

I have read that diet soda is one of the worst things you can drink when you want to lose weight, causes you to crave carbs. Water water water is best and of course a beer now and then

I've used it for cleaning battery post also, just be sure the battery caps are on good,if the coke get inside the battery you'll have to buy a new battery. (Baking Soda and water works good too)
Something else it's good for is cleaning them nasty bug splatters on your windshield and bumpers. Just pour it on, let'er sit for a few seconds and the bug juice comes off easily. Makes a good meat tenderizer/marinade too

Re: Cocoa Cola
I limit any soda consumption, there's really no big health risk except for those that over indulge.
But even one acidic carbonated beverage regardless of the brand, can do some real damage to your teeth though.
