Thanksgiving coming up
With the holidays coming up, I've been really getting an itch to make up the menu and let the rest of the family know what to bring. What is everyone going to do for Thanksgiving. My Dad and I have planned a family get together and are going to have it at my work. Not as warm as a home setting but will be big enough for everyone to stretch out. My dad can't take big crowds at his house any more and my apartment is a little small for all the people to be comfortable. I'm just so thankful that we can all still get together . I know I will be smiling the whole week knowing that we will all be together. Just makes me so thankful. I'm also thankful for all the friends that I have! Everyone on here is included in my list of friends that I'm thankful for.

Re: Thanksgiving coming up
This will be my first Thanksgiving off in about 2 years. So now I don't have to rush to get up early, eat quick and off to work. I can actually enjoy it this year. Going to my parents, not sure if my brother and his family will be there or not. But they will be with us in spirit anyway.

Re: Thanksgiving coming up
It is by far my favorite holiday. It doesn't involve shopping and presents. At least to me it's just about being with the ones you love and giving HIM thanks for what you have. Nothing materialistic about it, just about hugs and love.

Now Tiger! You know you have been invited to come over to celebrate with my family. I know you will probably have to work though.

Re: Thanksgiving coming up
I'll be on the job Thanksgiving weekend. And more than likely Christmas too. Mainly cause I volunteer to work everyone's shift that wanted off.
When the Boss and I were partnered up we use to argue who was working during the holidays. Now he is the boss and has to take off and I get work all the holidays. haha

Re: Thanksgiving coming up
Spending time with the family. Folks getting older so time with them is special. Don't have to work the holiday this year but working the night before. Have to bake the pies and work on some of the other dishes before going to work. Hate to try to do so much of meal prep on Thanksgiving day.
Hope everyone has a great day..

Re: Thanksgiving coming up
I'll spend Thanksgiving day at my parents and I'm looking forward to that, the husband will be working all night the night before so he'll be sleeping through it, so he and I will have our feast the day after..

Re: Thanksgiving coming up
I'm going shopping with my Dad tomorrow evening for the turkey and fixings that he and I will be making. He and I will be making all the hard stuff as everyone else will be coming a bit of a distance. I heard from my brother tonite and they will be coming. My baby sis won't be able to come because of health issues. She will be so missed. Some hard things that will probably take place this holiday is that I haven't seen my youngest son since I left my husband. He is having a hard time dealing with me leaving his Dad. My oldest told me this weekend that he is pretty sure he has his little brother talked into coming for the get together . I know it will be very emotional when we see each other for the first time. I'm just so grateful that my oldest has been persistent and helpful in trying to help his brother to deal with things. My family is so important to me. That is the most important thing for me at the holidays.

Re: Thanksgiving coming up
This is a great topic! It also lets people know what others will be doing, if they'll be here the rest of the week or not.... that way nobody gets worried about anybody else. The kiddos have the rest of the week off so I won't be back until Monday. Havin' the usual Thanksgiving meal at our house with family and friends. May go to my dad's house if everything works out. It's been too long since I've seen him..

Re: Thanksgiving coming up
My Dad surprised me today by calling me and telling me he had bought a small turkey and wanted me to come over and have lunch with him. Sure surprised me as we are having our family get together on Saturday. He said it was Thanksgiving and he and I had to have turkey. He is such a sweetheart!

Re: Thanksgiving coming up
I had a great time with my family and Tiger for our celebration on Saturday. Only had one disappointment. My youngest son didn't show up. It really didn't surprise me. He is having such a hard time with me leaving his dad. I'm just trying to give him his space and call him once a week and leave him a message on his phone telling him I love him and miss him so much. I know it will take him time to work through this. Hope everyone else had as blessed Thanksgiving as I did. My brother and his wife and son came on Saturday and I hadn't seen them for a year!
