The cost of keeping warm
Wow, we just filled our tank for our oil burning furnace...600 bucks! The tank should last us through the season with some left over though. We've spent about 120 bucks on firewood to supplement what we cut on our own.
Does keeping warm for the winter bust your budget?

Re: The cost of keeping warm
I'm really grateful that the apartment I live in includes the cost of all of my utilities. I already have had to turn on my furnace because it too cold! lol

Re: The cost of keeping warm
Its going hurt to keep the house warm. One of the biggest reasons I need to find a second job. I'm thinking it going to cost us about an extra $50 per month for electric, and an extra $150 to $200 per month for gas. I had to turn on my furnance yesterday. Ma's nipples were getting too sore from standing out so much from the cold.

Re: The cost of keeping warm
worst thing is...
I cannot remember for the life of me, my parents having to do their damn bookkeeping for them! If I don't call them on every bill, they seem to "accidentally" charge me mystery fees, and what not...oh, well...at least if I don't like it, i can always switch service to anoth....oh, yeah...right. gotta love monopolies! It seems that the only laws we uphold these days are the drug ones. And, the tax ones, of course!

Re: The cost of keeping warm
natural gas is sky high around here. We have bills in the winter of over $400.00 - well over some months and we keep the old house at like 62 degrees during the day. We have a budget payment system so the high usage winter months are balanced out with the lower summer months but still our winter budget is something like $260. a month.

Re: The cost of keeping warm
We just had a natural gas vent-free gas fireplace installed in Sept. Because our house has an open floor plan, it warms the entire house within a few minutes thus saving us up 'til now, the pain of turning on the furnace. Our average heat bill for the really cold months the three years we've been here in Dec & Jan was $175 per month. I'm hoping the fireplace will save us some money this heating season. Time will tell......

Re: The cost of keeping warm
Mother nature provides the heat here in Florida. In summer the A/C costs about $150-200 a month for a few months. I only miss a little of the fall and spring but Nov. thru March are grrrrrrreat. No A/C or heat

Re: The cost of keeping warm
The cost of energy is LEGAL RAPE. How can gasoline go up .10 at the pump overnight. The fuel they have in the ground already, didn't cost .10 more, it was already paid for. grrrrrrrr

The argument from the dealers is that the next load will cost them that much more so they have to get that extra cost upfront to finance that next delivery. Legal rape? In my mind? Yeh, I think!! But I do have the option of not buying the product.
